Guest article. Emily

Here is a text my friend Emily Peacock wrote.

Emily , after living in France,  went back home in the UK and decided to build her own business.

Here is what she says about wish come true:

Hello my lovelies!

I am often asked in my workshops and by email about starting your own business. I think (like me a few years ago) a lot of people have that feeling inside them that they have something creative to give, but they don't know what ! I want to pass my Top 5 tips on what has worked for me and what I have learned in the hope that it may be useful to some of you.

1. Do something you love. If you have no passion for it and are just doing it to make money it will fail. Most likely you will run out of steam with it. Passion spreads and is felt by others. Keep pushing yourself and stay in that sweet spot of innate enthusiasm.

2. Never rip off someone else's idea. This is immoral and cowardly and I will hunt you down and nail your sorry hide to the tree of woe! In any case you will be building your business on bad foundations which is never good! Yes, you're allowed to be inspired by something and put your own spin on it (we are all inspired by something) but you cannot be someone else. Be yourself. You are not 'less special' (bad grammar!) than anyone else and you have your own unique story, history, sense of colour, shape, style etc.

3. Don't panic, don't grasp at straws or you will fail. Do something that is meaningful to who you are. For example I have ALWAYS been a textile nut since I was a tiny kid. I have always loved bright colours. I have always been drawn to typography. I am a hopeless romantic. Voila! The clues were all there! I just did it in my own way and told my own story. Look at what you've always done and always been attracted to, what you love to do when all chores have been done. That's the clue, as you are doing what comes naturally.

4. Play to your strengths. If you're not a designer but have a great eye and know what you'd like to see - find someone who is a designer and work with them. If you have a flair for putting things together then start your own range of items that you can sell as fairs/exhibitions or online. Sell what you would buy. Or spend time looking for beautiful and original second hand things and open a Vintage shop on a site like Etsy/Folksy. I have a huge passion for mid-century design so I would open an Etsy shop selling that if I had the time! I am useless at PR so I have someone to help me with that. I am not one of nature's paperwork doers... err... that just gets put on a pile and ignored until I get into trouble. Oh well. See what I mean?

5. Always... hold on, I need to write that in capitals.. ALWAYS charge the right price for what you do. I see too many women, mums in particular, who put in a lot of time making things and sell them for next to nothing. It makes me feel sad as it feels lowly and apologetic. Even if you start off with a hobby, you need to charge business prices as you never know where this will lead. You need to factor your time into a price as well as materials and also be able to sell it at a trade price and still make money. If the product is good, it will sell. If it's not then, well, then you'll know and people would probably not buy it at any price. Value yourself. There is a huge mythology out there that creative people should work for nothing/very little. Bullshit! You are not just selling what you made you are selling the story of your life so far that has taken you to that point, as well as your creative time and bravery for putting it out there. You have a duty to value what you do and value creativity generally for all the other creative people out there. It's a group responsibility if you see what I mean.

(5a. Work your butt off.)

There is something original and unique about you. Find it. Be brave. Be bold. Tell your story.

Here endeth the lesson - I hope it helped some of you.

Guest's article; discover reflexology with Sally !

Sally Teixeira is a British Universal Reflexologist and Reiki Master/Teacher living in Rio de Janeiro. She leads workshops in Europe, Brazil and the Middle East using the techniques of Universal Reflexology and Reiki as a catalyst for sole/soul healing. Further to offering personal treatments in Copacabana and Barra she has released her CD Universal Reflexology and the Healing Journey and runs her own international weblog
http://www.universallyrio.com/.

Discover Yourself through your Feet

“What on earth is she talking about?” I hear you say. And I have to admit that I said the very same thing many years ago when I first discovered Universal Reflexology. Well, this is what it boils down to. The soles of your feet are the gateway to your soul. Your soul, that inner essence of you that has become so disguised, battered, guarded and forgotten about due to dogmas, stress, dis-ease and modern day living, that you don’t even realise that you aren’t You.

“Mmmmm, I’m not sure about that,” I now hear you say. Well that’s ok too, because when you first come across a concept that is outside your normal belief systems, we naturally question, doubt and perhaps even ridicule it. And this is where having an open mind and heart comes in. It doesn’t mean we have to aimlessly accept every word or teaching as gospel, we only need accept what feels right for us in that moment. What this does give you, is the freedom of choice to learn, experience and grow, because whether you want to accept it or not, you are first and foremost a spiritual soul made of energy and a physical body with an intellectual mind second.

So what does Universal Reflexology do for us?

On a physical level, every part of your body has an area and corresponding reflex on the feet, which when touched or massaged will create the appropriate reaction in that area of the body. So whether you have tennis elbow, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, allergies or chronic back pain or PMS we can connect to and assist that area of the body to heal, simply through touching the feet. The body knows instinctively if a hormonal gland needs to be stimulated or calmed down and similarly, if there is a trauma or injury to the body the reflexology releases the tension that holds it in a state of un-ease and dis-ease and gives it the space to relax and bring itself back into harmony and full health.

And this is where it gets interesting ... in Universal Reflexology the feet are also seen as a reflection of our emotions, state of mind and personality. In other words, they express the spiritual aspect of ourselves. Being spiritual is nothing more than being in touch with our inner self and knowing that we are the perfect unity of mind, body and soul and that we are all undertaking a journey in this life to discover more about ourselves. No need for flowery hippie skirts and fake luvvy duvvy fluffy love ... just a genuine desire to get back to self and reconnect to the Oneness of the Universe. And yes, that reconnection and self discovery will bring the experience of spiritual love which ultimately defies human words.

Being aware of our emotional and mental (and so spiritual) state is paramount to healing because it is our own emotions, beliefs, memories and negative thoughts that are behind every unhealthy symptom in our body. If we live in a state of fear, regret, anger, bitterness etc and revisit and carry these negative thoughts and emotions with us, our soul eventually becomes so buried and desperate for us to let go of these issues that it talks to us by creating a certain dis-ease and condition in the physical body that reflects the issues at hand. So whatever you suffer from, there is always an emotion and memory behind it. And the great news is that when we know how to read the feet, they highlight what is going on within us on these inner levels. But even better than just knowing about it, the Universal Reflexology will help us to actually release these emotional burdens, issues and traumas so that we can return to full health emotionally and spiritually and therefore physically.

What makes Universal Reflexology even more special is that it uses a very light touch. So instead of experiencing the commonly used deep pressure over sensitive reflexes that has you hanging from the ceiling in pain, Universal Reflexology lulls you into the delightful bliss of deep relaxation and it focuses on using the flow of healing energy to clear blockages, stimulate the release of toxins, calm over stressed adrenal glands and balance the body’s energy centres... and more No matter what brings you to trying Universal Reflexology, your whole being will always be treated with special attention being given to the areas in need.

The feet always show us the way ... but it’s ultimately our choice as to whether we want to listen to them or not ... and whether we are ready to embark on our own healing journey. When you answer the calling of your soles, you will ultimately start to re-discover your true soul self.

Universal Reflexology ... inner healing from the feet up.
Coming very soon!                              http://www.sallyteixeira.com/

guest's article: The fear of the other, when the difference becomes threat

This week, I want to share with you an article written by Marie José Sibille, a French Integrative Psychotherapist, EMDR Practitioner (see link below) and trainer
"The fear of the other, when the difference becomes threat"

From this article that I find really interesting, I picked up a sentence that seems to me particularly ecchoing what I can understand here and there.

For me, it is directly linked to the notion of the time we can give to ourself
The notion of time that has nourrished the motivation of my blog and gives it a continuum

Here is the sentence Marie-José wrote that inspired me:

"The need for control by the logorrhea or the hyperactivity, alternating with the escape and withdrawing are two defensive attitudes clearly listed in social anxiety, and already in ethology through the study of animal behavior. One of the
goals of psychotherapy is to propose a secure enough frame to access these archaic lacks of the little baby, gradually reducing the level of anxiety and the fear of the destruction that go together"

The logorrhea, this ability to speak without leaving a fraction of a second between one word and the one that has to follow
Hyperactivity or not not being able to stand doing nothing, the unbearable reality of having time to oneself
The anxiety about staying there, facing oneself, and the threat of facing oneself
 This essential time space that has to be respected without compressing it if we want to live our life and not going through it observing it from far like a landscape from a train windowThis accumulation of words and activities are symptoms that can be recognized;

TO BE or TO DO
Small simple tests:
Next discussion you have with whoever you want, check how long you hold it without opening your mouth or without interrupting a sentence ;o)
Organise your day. . .with  no organisation at all

Feel if it is not simple, maybe unbearable not to speak / not to do
What do you feel in your body ? Tension, pressure, pain . . .
Where ? Stomach, chest, neck, head . . .
Our body gives us clues on where we have to look after ourselvesYou probably have an idea of the answer, right? It is interesting to know that chosing to deal with these symptoms may open our life to more inner calm and strength

I recommend you read the whole article of Marie Jose, it will give you lots of thoughts, I'm sure!

I didn't translated them as it is quite long and I can't copy it and it is pretty long,

I do trust your French department for being on top of it ! ;o)

You can find the writings of Marie Jose on his blog:

Guest's article: Joan Bell

Today's article is Joan's from Australia
I met Joan via a life coaching forum some time ago; that forum disappeared and we stayed in touch; As i already mentioned earlier, I do not believe in chance;
We stayed in touch because  we have sooo much in commun
We share identical values and life spirit !
Joan, otherwise called "the action queen", works with spirited women (like her !)
A truly inspiring woman
Here are her words

YOU CAN BE FAB’ AT 40 FIT AT 50 AND SASSY AT 60

YES! It’s true, we have become ageless, timeless and limitless says life designer and life coach Joan Bell. We are all going to grow older chronologically, nothing can stop that. What we can stop is the way we think about how we age.

I have met people in their twenties who speak and act as if they were decades older and I have also met 8o year olds who have a sharp wit, are fit and healthy and absolutely brimming with life. As well as your attitude and perspective on life it is how you think about yourself that is key to ageing with grace and beauty.

MY TEN TOP TIPS FOR BEING FABULOUS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE:

1) Discover your top three values and live by them (no compromises)

2) Get rid of tolerations (things, people, places, whatever you are putting up with, excavate and

eradicate!

3) Be as kind and thoughtful to yourself as you are to others

4) Tell the truth, (to yourself and others, this will free you up to be yourself)

5) Eat fresh foods (organic if possible) Take the junk foods out of your life

6) Lift yourself to a higher game, raise the bar for yourself; stand tall!

7) Say NO more often (to what you don’t want in your life)

8) Say YES more often to what you do want in your life, be bold!

9) Discover nature, (walks, bike-rides, bush hikes. Actually take the time to observe nature, watch it unfold, watch the seasons, see, smell, taste the ocean, watch a family of birds through the seasons. Lie in the grass and watch the sky. Taste the rain.

10) Take care of your body- it is beautiful as it is. Nurture it, exercise it and cherish it. It is a gift and it is unique. You deserve to look, feel and be the very best version of yourself. Why would you settle for anything less?

There is actually one more tip and without it nothing else works. That is DESIRE. Put some desire back into your life. Discover what you REALLY want, then go get it! If you have the desire, then all you need is the Vision, add a large dose of Action and you will be UNSTOPPABLE! Don’t wait for the world to entertain you, or wait for things to just happen (or not). Stop allowing others to tell you what to do, what you want, what makes you happy. YOU decide, reclaim your life, it’s NEVER too late!

Joan Bell is the founder of ACTION CENTRAL and is on a mission to help more spirited women take more action more often and share their unique gifts with their family, their community and the world. She believes that women are taking over as thought leaders and we all need to play our part, no matter how small you may think it is , it is important. YOU are important.
