Our stomach, a 2d brain

We still have so much to discover !

Here is a link to a documentary that was on Arte, a German-French TV station

http://future.arte.tv/fr/le-ventre -anchor - item # 115111

I find this documentary interesting as it has a scientific approach which corroborates what I set up in my work, following my ' instinctive ' conviction (fine observation, readings , reflections , feelings ... )
which, in part, is to consider that

EVERYTHING that enters our body (mind and physical body): food, emotions (conscious and unconscious) affects us .

EVERYTHING.

With a non-religious but spiritual frame that I have, I consider that we are all linked with each other .
The functioning of our body which we still don’t know that much
contains in itself the possibility of self-healing.

Here are below some points from the documentary of Arte .

Here I will discuss the relationship between emotions and the functioning of our intestines.
This documentary deals with other aspects, such as the scope of therapeutic assumptions regarding earlier detection of neuro-vegetative diseases such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's.

Our intestines are composed of 100,000 billion bacteria, 200 million neurons ( = the brain of a cat / a dog).

The stomach produces roughly 20 neuro transmitters
and 95 %  of the serotonin ( hormone of " happiness ") of our body.

The serotonin circulates in the blood and will act in our brain.
Particularly in the hypothalamus which is involved in managing our emotions.
Hence the impact on our mental state.

Michael Gershon, a pioneer on this point, U.S. researcher at Columbia University , New York, wrote a book entitled " The second brain " in 1998 (already !) .
I love it when it is said to be the Leonardo Da Vinci of our intestines !

Mayan believed what we fond : the fundamental importance of our belly .

For Indian yogis, the stomach is the home of emotions

Chinese medicine has an overview of the human body and it regulates the flow of energy circulating in our body;
it considers that the Qi (pronounced shi) is a fluid energy that connects us to the universe.

Bo Zhiyun , acupuncturist in MIC Hospital Guangzhou, China , discovered
' by accident ' ( which I do not personally give great credit to) acupuncture on the belly.

He uses it almost exclusively now, having traced a network of points around the navel that said to be extremely responsive.
"Our organs are directly related to our emotions and mental state. "

What we feel impacts our digestive system.

Now we find that our digestive system impacts our emotions .

It seems that in the pathology of irritable bowel, the concern may be a miscommunication between the two brains :
head and intestine.

A doctor in Grenoble, France, treats his patients by a holistic approach and proposes
sessions of hypnotherapy .

Other approaches consist in finding a drug that can support
consistent communication between the two brains.

Needless to say I am deeply convinced that the holistic approach is a solution that meets more the inner functioning of a person (not to mention the cost ) .

We now know that an altered state of consciousness, like you can reach wit hypnosis for example, you can change the functioning of our brain, through access to the unconscious mind.
The effects of hypnosis are now proven .

This unconscious mind, discovered in antiquity and rediscovered by Sigmund Freud,
would it be in our stomach, the reporter asks ?

I would add ... is ALSO in our stomach?
I believe that our unconscious is IN us, not in one specific organ and certainly not only one.

The documentary deals with the influence of the bacterial flora.
Research show, we are told, that the causes of obesity can be divided as follows:

10% due to genetic factors
10 % due to bacteria
80% due to behavior , thus a factor 'will' ( ooohhh I am wary of this word and what it implies ) with the attached question: Is our personality under the influence of micro biota ( flora stabilisers ) ? Which would mean an even stronger bacterial influence.

I would be tempted to weight there .
The environment and life experiences have their place far from negligible in all this !

Experiments on mice show that intakes of micro biota from quiet mice calm down aggressive mice
and vice versas .

Thus a deduction that intestinal flora influences the functioning of the brain.

"What we are is not only determined by what is human.
We are influenced by our ancestors (in development ) the bacteria that arrived on earth billions of years before us.

They have acquired a much larger genetic repertoire than ours. They influence who we are and how we are. "
"We swim in an eco bacterial system .
There is no separation between the self and the outside , between self and other .
We have an extraordinary biological continuity .
We are a collection of links and information that is beyond us . "
