Glad to be unhappy: the French case

Claudia Senik, French economist is becoming recognized for her thesis that states that French people carry their unhappiness with them.

You can read about her work below:

What could be the parameters of happiness ?
A few come to my mind, they could be summarized saying:

GIVING A BIT OF ONESELF / RECEIVING

DRIVING OUR LIFE BUS instead of being comfy in the rear seat

In other words

Bonding with others as we are social animals
Have a proactive attitude in life instead of being in the pause mode

Our mental representations have been molded in our early childhood / childhood.
We are still particularly loyal to those e recognize as being our role models

There is often a non-recognition of the child as a person in the French education system, in the French culture in general.
That closes the door to creativity, self-expression of what the person IS.

The so recognized and so useful Mathematics shouldn’t be more than the other subjects taught at school. Them too are nourished by creativity; how could it be possible to move on, search and find a solution without creating ?

This non-recognition of the BEING is for the least limiting and for the worse devastating

The ‘fantastic’, ‘brilliant’, ‘well done’, ‘good job’ … the kids get in the English / American schools can provoke a smile and even jokes from us French.
We are not used to be praised, we cannot understand them. Even if they are sometimes a bit over the top and not credible, even for the child himself.
And so ?

Do the young kids gave to face the reality all the time at their young age ?
We will al have our answer to that.

I do believe that even though those appraisals can be unrealistic at time,  they cannot destroy the self-esteem nor the richness of creation that is building every day during childhood and beyond.

This is essential to face a future life path where the individual will face frustration and pains, happiness and pleasure

For having been immerged a lot in France (my country), a bit in England (where I have been living 8 years) and a little bit in Brazil (where I do live since 3 years now) and knowing that nothing is 100%;
I feel that for the majority, us, French people, are grumpy and unsatisfied, English people are quite reactive when facing difficulties and Brasilians quite fatalists and happy with their life.

To fully feel one selves and happy nowadays, it is better to hold the reins instead of sitting in the back seat.
This will lead for sure to a minimum of assumed risk taken situation.

What do you think ?
