Wednesday expats; discovering yourself ... different !

Beautiful Aragon

Last week, I went to a meeting welcoming the new families at the international school where my three children are. I heard many, many very interesting and so funny stories.
One was from Mike (or so I call him), american. Mike has lived in different countries, including in Latin America. He said :
« When I speak English, I am calm, reserved, reasonable ; but when i speak Spanish, I use swear words, I speak with so much more energy, I laugh with much noise ! I am someone else !  I have a split personality ! And I love it ! »
Great, isn’t !
Well, no; Mike doesn’t have a split personality ! He simply uses different facets of his own personality;
Expatriation allowed him to discover and develop them !
One day, I suspect that he may allow himself to be extraverted when speaking in English, as it is not a question of langage !
This is a new environment that stimulated in him an area yet undiscovered ;
We can open to and accept new behaviours when immerged in new situations and among people we don’t know and who don’t know us !
That’s the pleasure of playing the life game ! !
Enjoy it ! Enjoy your expatriation and play with it !
