expatriate's wednesdays; being confronted to representations yet to be thought again

This is me, just before discovering the magic of the undersea world !

The expatriation, I think, and I keep thinking,  is a life experience that puts us in front of our strengths and our weak points.

Like any very emotional situation, it will reveal these traits of our personality, and sometimes develop others that were just there, but still unexpressed.

There is also the opportunity to meet people who, presumably, would not necessarily cross the path of our life.

So many differences are to be met ! In terms of nationalities, national and / or social cultural references, via hobbies or professional activities ... Every change has its challenges, Homo Sapiens Sapiens seems more prone to swim within what he already knows rather than venturing on the side of the unknown.

Yet it is the unknown that makes us move on.

I remember my naive astonishment and delight

Indeed, I met a person who, I think, would not have been part of my social environment in France, my home country, she was registered to an activity I was also going to.

We have been sharing life memories as expatriate women and non-expatriate (expat, is not a permanent life state ;o) we also had and will have another life)

 I was literally fascinated by this person that I felt was at times out of her family and social origins and by the life she chose to conduct, she agreed to open up to other realities, other references, other friends that those which probably built her childhood.

There is in her a kind of a social shift; the image that comes to my mind, is a transplant that would have grown on a beautiful harmonious plant.

How rich I felt that person is !

Human, kind, bright, with her open mind which led her to accept differences

Expatriation also means to be open and accept the differences or take the risk to stay lonely.

That does not mean accepting all the différences

Where do you draw the line ?



And here is our 15 years old driving a buggy with great excitement, a bit of apprehension, tension, pride : perfect recipe for happiness !
