Expatriates' Wednesdays; move season is on the way !

We are in May;

Move season is on the way  for those expatriating with an employer !

Most of us know by now where the next step is gonna be

A few of us are still waiting for the news to be finalized

Depending where the next assignment is and where your are with your personal life

It's excitement time or "not sure" time

It may be impatriation time as well. Back "home". Is "home" still home though ?

Decision time, that is for sure

Time to say goodbyes

To friends, to the place where the family spent a few years

Professiona, personal and social changes ahead

For the employee to move on to new projects and new colleagues

For the spouse mainly, to organise housing, schooling if there are kids, the move itself, selling furniture . . . and that is before the physical move

For the children to follow all that from more or less far

For everybody to deal with a new life balance, busy full of emotions times ahead of you all

When we move here or there, far or not, it is important to recognize what we carry with us and what we leave behind, what makes the link between those two realities 

Talking about furniture am I ? ermmm; not really  ;o)

About our innerself; our personal projects

Do you know yours ? Is it something you want to take time to think about ?

Do you allow yourself to change to adapt to the new situation ?

As an expatriate, adaptability is a key word;

Adaptation to a new environement, both physical and mental

What frame do you decide to draw for your personal projects ?

What are you going to do now knowing all what you have acquired so far ?

Do you actually realize all what you have acquired through the different moves ? !

How can you keep those personal projects alive ?

What is it you need to keep with you ?

Would your projects become professional projects or would all that you've been enriched with help you design what you want your days to be filled with ?

Would that help you face a step you are longing for for so many years ?

All those questions have one and unique aim:

Where are you in your family's expatriation story ?

Facing one's personal wills means more personal happiness and strength that can only be beneficial for the whole family, couple's life and relation with the children

If you know what you benefit from your expatriation (s), I am sure you know what I mean

If you do not yet, it is your choice to give you some time to reflect on a few of the above questions
