Time
Time is an important factor in our lives, right? Yes? No ?
So many times we run after it, so many times we do not really control it
One may wonder if we stopped trying to control it iwether things would not simply take a new place in our lives ? No ? Yes ?
It is no coincidence that time is a data that I spend a lot of my time thinking about . . .
I so much do not control it, I mean, not at all
My family is laughing, remembering that at the age of 15, I still did not know if it was morning, afternoon or evening; a child with that issue nowadays would probably be sent straight to meet a psychologist or an ortho ---
With the concept of time in my life, the unfolding of certain events may have been easier
But not having it allowed me to understand temporality in a totally different way
A handicap ? Yes for some people around me; not for me, on the contrary
The problem was in others' mind, not in mine (Interesting concept of relativity, right ?)
Let's focus on this time notion;
We were discussing this notion of time with two colleagues the other day;
Is time like a straight line ? Or is it circular ?
What does connect the past, the future and the present ? And how ?
For these perceptions, we are strongly influenced by our culture of origin, by our family and our personal beliefs
I am going to share with you my beliefs and I would love to know how you percieve the time, your time and more importantly, how it helps you in your daily life, after all, this is still the most interesting !
Past, present and future are inextricably linked and influence each other every second of our life by being enrolled in each cell of our body;
One is more present than the others at certain times, for reasons which we are more or less conscious about
We daily sail, we argue, we move on more or less easily, we fly (it depends on the day !) with each micro memory added, consciously and non consciously, before, now and later on,
the future is also present in us, we are animals who can we plan more or less far ahead;
This notion of temporality makes life richer and more complex: it gives us another dimension, it shapes us constantly, connecting us to other moments and other people
Yes, we are social animals and time doesn't go on without being connected to others
I have just finished the last book of Jacqueline De Romilly
( http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/dec/19/french-classics-scholar-jacqueline-de-romilly-dies/)She also speaks of this mixture of temporality, she mentions the moments during which she was able to experience a mixture of past and present
Have you ever been though that yourself as well ?
I have and it happened exactly the way she describes it, with an intensity of feelings never experienced before in a daily state of consciousness;
I think that these altered states of consciousness do not depend on age, they can be experiences if you allow space and time for reaching our unconscious processing
We go through each sense which are all very acute via an extreme unforgettable experience
"Simply", I think all our experiences are rich moments where our 5 senses and their maximum expression are present, that our consciousness does very much its job as a filter to avoid cluttering our daily path and put loads of information in our "unconscious suitcase"
And as Mrs Romilly said, what exciting prospect to realize that one way or another, we put a veil on certain aspects of our lives,
It highlights the fact that we can disclose, or even perceive them and therefore open to other directions for our lives !
I especially like her memory of the smile of a male colleague that her consious miond had chosen then not to notice
I wish you a beautiful day !
