Information and ACTION !

As you may already know, I live in Rio de Janeiro with my family.

It seems that some informations do not leave the American continent or even South America; but here are the last ones from here: last week has been particularly tough. The police and the army have set up ways never seen before (army tanks... etc.) to clean a set of shantytowns/slums in the northern area of the 'cidade maravilhosa'. Fighthing drug dealers ... a huge project; required because the dealers operate with impunity or about for the last few decades.

A kind of a civil war has begun.

Obviously, as a new Carioca, I was particularly shaken and worried by those events. Especially as my children attend a school that is literally on the doorstep of a favela, which will undoubtedly be the next target of military action cleaning.

"JDONG!"

Onopatopoeia which is supposed to represent the state in which my neurones were for quite a while . . .

Fear, so Denial  Withdrawal   Scenarii loops   Bad nights. . .

Remaining in that mental state could only take me a feeling of suffer, powerless and anxiety; once again I tell myself that this is not really the most interesting state for me to be in, nor for those who live with me!

So? ACTION!

First, information:

I read newspapers, listen to the TV, I'm taking information from the net, all this keeping much distance as I think medias are not necessarily the most neutral of all mean of information ...

And I share, discuss, I listen to my spouse, friends and especially those who also know better than us, I mean the Carioca and foreigners who have lived long in Rio, I gather all this information

Then I decided to write an e mail to the appropriate persons at the school, those in charge of the children's safety.

This action then allows me to clearly get my concerns out of my system and I can see, feel more clearly where responsabilities are.

It is essential in any change process to search for information; you can not get them all at once. Moreover, everyone has a part of it. I will add that each angle has its own truth 

In my story of Brasilian laying up, you can imagine that parents, media, school, army, governement etc. ... everyone has a different view simply because the interests are different.

A similar situation is formed by a multitude of angles. Allowing oneself to get a few of them is very useful to relativize and enrich information and therefore to position oneself for a decision-making;

ACTION ?

Yes, capital letters for ACTION !

 Because without action ..... NOTHING happens!             As simple as that !

I do not remember where I read recently ... "You want to win the lottery? Start by buying a ticket!" A bit simplistic, I do agree with you, but sharp funny summary

Finding information and actions are two major steps in a process of evolution
