Creating your own time frame is a must

 Museo no Rio de Janeiro

if you want to experiment the satisfaction of the accomplishment,

frame your time

I am there thinking a lot about the expat spouse. How many time have I heard:

‘I have the feeling I haven’t done anything by the end of my day’

And this is true for anybody who doesn’t have one. It can be an issue for retired people as well.

During a coaching process, a person told me recently that, among other points, she wants to continue with settling her professional project.
She has already begun and seems to me very focused and clear; though something stops her from feeling ideas flowing.

She is frustrated.

We discuss her organisation together and it seems to me that she could benefit from a firmer daily timeframe;

Here is what I more or less suggest to her:

-          Organise a daily schedule and calculate the number of free hours that you can keep for your project. This step is usually a big positive surprise:

‘wow! That is a lot of time !’

. Yes, we can waste a lot of our time when it isn’t framed. Most common is net surfing.

-          Decide clearly which day, between which and which hours and on what exactly you are working

-          Do work only on one single theme of your project, no more.
Or you lose the time spent to think or do something else plus the time spent  to come back to your point and become creative again about it.

-          When you have new ideas for another aspect of your work, have a sheet of paper, a folder, titled ‘ideas’. You shouldn’t lose those ideas AND they shouldn’t divert you from staying focused.

-          You feel like having a drink with a friend, going to the cinema . . .  have time slots for your ‘socialisation'. Write them down

-          Same for each activity.

Be as precise as possible

If you cannot respect that time frame and still want to aim for your project, you need to work on your motivation.
It may be around an opposition to authority, or that your project isn’t clearly enough integrated in your life for many different reasons.

The time frame you have set up isn’t the result of you avoiding it.

When you are comfortable with what you have put into place, you can ‘play’ with your time frame, readjust it, at the condition that the new one is still doing its job:
Help you to move on your project

After one week testing that, the lady I am working with told me:

“ I have a wonderful satisfaction ! It is incredible all that I have accomplished !”

She had sparkles in her eyes !
