Let’s see
this video one more time:
What is
happening:
People are
in a situation where they have to describe their face having no outside input
at all when they do so.
They only use their perceptions, their personal beliefs
linked with their physical appearance.
We have the
forensic artist.
He is drawing two sketches.
One from the description of the
person makes of themselves and another one from a person who met the person
just before for the first time: no belief, no a priori is linked to the physical
appearance of the person for them.
Then, the
person can see the two representations of themselves.
We can see
the reactions of surprise, sometimes very emotional when facing their portrait.
On most of
the sketches we see the painted portrait after the stranger description being
much more beautiful, friendly than the one made after the self-description.
That leads
me to the point I wanted to develop here:
Most of us
have become experts at putting ourselves down. Judging us extremely negatively
and being unable to even use positive words to describe our face …..
you have
understood that it is all about our whole self, not our face or body.
Why is that
?
We build
our beliefs on the feelings we create when going through an exterior situation:
an event, a word, a music, a film … anything that touches one and/or more of
our 5 senses.
The more
those exterior informations are linked with a person that we feel is important
to us, the more we will be affected by it.
We fuse
feeling / situation and create a belief.
We build
those judgments on ourselves deep into our culture, our education and frozen
them with a negative emotion.
Then we
have our inner voice that keep repeating those beliefs again and again …
Easier to build
a belief than to re assess it . . . though it can be done.
It is a way
to rediscover one’s self in the most positive and realistic way.
Recognising
oneself does not mean thinking we are above the others.
Those beliefs are so
often wrongly linked.
No we are
not neither above nor under. At another place and that is fine.
Recognising
oneself means recognizing the others.
One lady
says:
“The way we
see ourselves impacts on everything in our life. It couldn’t be more critical
to our happiness.”
Yes
And
“yes, I am
more beautiful than I say”
Yes we are
Do ask someone today to describe your face. Enjoy it !
Have a beautiful day !
