What a look! ! ! What a beauty!
The family is not a block!
Here we have, like for the children, a vast and complex subject, both individual and collective
During an expatriation, the family group has to change.
This restricted group has a dynamic of its own which obeys to multiple and endless interactions, fluctuating between fixed parameters and others that will change;
Everyone will experience expatriation with their own filters, its position in the family; the expressed and unexpressed roles (role expectations) their personal experiences, personality, age, expectations and concerns expressed, and those which are not and may be conscious and unconscious , etc. ... etc. ...
And we can add everything that is woven between individuals, dually or within the group. . .
Yes, I say it loud and clear: this is complex! Not complicated though , very different !
It is common that tensions arise, due to personal suffering or to stressful external events imposed on the family. These tensions crystallise between members of the family. There may be moments of pain, words that slip or a behaviour that goes wrong
Being able to recognise pains and pleasures is essential because it is the first necessary and indispensable step to the path leading to a resolution of what is happening
This recognition is not obvious when we go ourselves through the challenging situation and the risk does exist to have negative relationships settling for several months
Do not hesitate to seek professional help when you feel that too many difficulties accumulate;
PS, note that I treat of expatriation as a change of country, personal choice or job transfer
